Barrier Booster: packaging system, dielines, art direction by Natasha Dicuru

01The challenge

MONAT is known for hair. This was skincare.

Barrier Booster was a four-step skincare system entering a house that already runs several distinct product worlds, each with its own visual language. The line had to be recognizable as MONAT on the shelf and still read as skincare — not as a haircare line in a smaller bottle.

The four products ship in four different container formats: cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer. There was no single front panel to design, and the premium finish I specified came back over budget.

02The approach

One order, four fronts.

I built the hierarchy around the only thing that stays constant across four container shapes — a fixed vertical order of brand, sub-brand, product name and step. That order holds whether it sits on a 4 cm serum front or a wide cleanser panel, so the four products line up as one row on a shelf instead of four separate designs.

Separation from MONAT's other lines came from palette and finish rather than a new lockup: a cooler, quieter range than the hair lines, so the system reads clinical without leaving the brand. When the finish priced out, I concentrated the premium treatment on the panel that does the selling and let the secondary surfaces carry a matte base — the perceived step-up survived the cut.

03The result

Four containers. One line.
